Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 992: It was his own doing
Josh placed two cups of tea on the coffee table in front of Baggott and Brimlad and sat down opposite them with a not-so-natural smile on his face. "How did you replace this place?"
Baggott raised his eyes and shot a sharp look at him, "We're not here to catch up, and we certainly don't have any catching up to do with you." Josh rubbed his hands together shakily, not knowing how to face her family at all because of what had happened with Maryam.
Maryam left the Khan family after falling out with her father for him, but in the end, he was the one who failed her.
The Khan family must have hated him.
Thinking about it, Josh bowed his head, "I'm sorry, it's all my fault, I shouldn't have done that to Maryam and Eloise."
At that, Brimlad snorted out a laugh, "Josh, can you erase all the years of aggravation my three sisters and Eloise have suffered with a single apology?" Josh did not make a sound.
She took a deep breath, pushed down her frustration and continued, "You hurt my third sister for a mistress and then let her and her daughter bully Eloise, you're a good husband and father. " There is sarcasm between the lines.
Josh was too ashamed to lift his head to face them.
"We just came to see how you were getting on?" Baggott looked around, a sneer staining his brow, "And now it looks like you're paying for what you've done."
Josh closed his eyes, "I'm sorry I failed Maryam, I'm the one who didn't deserve to be Eloise's father."
"Now that Eloise has found her happiness and has a family of her own, I'd like you to leave her alone." Baggott said.
Josh couldn't accept what he said, "Eloise is my daughter and I want her to be happy, but I can't do that if you won't let me go to her."
He is now left with Eloise as his daughter, and there is no way in hell he is going to cut his ties with her.
"Where were you when Junior and her daughter used to bully Eloise? And what face do you have now to say that Eloise is your daughter?" Brimlad couldn't hold back his anger and questioned sternly. I've seen cheeky people, but I've never seen such cheeky people.
"It's true that I was wrong before, but I've regretted it and I want to make it up to Eloise properly, and you don't have that right to keep me from seeing her."
Josh's words made Baggott gasp, "The best way to make up for it is to stay away from Eloise."
When he finished, he stood up and stared coldly at Josh, warning in a low voice, "If you ever go after Eloise or cause her any more trouble, I won't let you off the hook."
Without waiting for Josh to react, he pulled Brimlad along with him and left.
Josh sat motionless for a moment, and after a while, laughed out loud, laughed and cried.
He lowered his head, covered his face with his hands and sobbed suppressively.
He really regretted it and regretted why he had treated Eloise so badly in the first place.
The thought of his two lovely grandsons and granddaughters caused remorse to entangle him like a woven web.
When he came out, Brimlad looked back and sighed, "Old Fang, aren't we going a bit too far with this?"
"Not too much." Josh said as he walked forward, "He had it coming."
Brimlad still felt uncomfortable, "Even though I'm angry too, he's Eloise's father anyway, and I don't know what Eloise will think of us if we do this, in case she replaces out." "It doesn't matter what Eloise thinks. I just don't want her or my third sister to get hurt again." Baggott gave her a sideways glance.
Brimlad sighed again and said nothing more.
...
Kyoto, Khan Group.
Ivor handed Edgar the list of all declared exports for the week.
"President, it's all here."
Edgar picked it up and looked down at it, "Anything?"
"One of them has a connection to Mr Arlice's mother's maiden family."
"Hmm?" Edgar looked up at him.
"You see a name on the list Winchell Boddy, who is Mr Arlice's cousin." Edgar frowned, "Cousin?"
"Yes, his great grandfather and Mr Arlice's maternal great grandfather were cousins."
"That's a deep enough relationship." Edgar couldn't help but laugh out loud, "My cousin isn't smart enough to go to one of his own, do you really think I can't replace out?" He had the feeling that his intelligence had been insulted.
"So what now?" Ivor asked.
"What to do?" Edgar frowned for a moment in thought, "Tell you what, replace a way to meet with this Winchell Boddy and see if you can get anything out of him." Ivor nodded, "Understood."
"Remember to be discreet."
"Good."
Ivor led the way and hurried away.
At the end of the evening, Edgar takes the lift downstairs and stops at a certain floor.
He raised his eyebrows ever so slightly when he saw Arlice standing outside waiting for the lift.
What a coincidence.
Arlice also froze, but quickly recovered and walked in quickly.
"Edgar, you're off work so late too." Arlice asked as he glanced sideways at the man beside him.
Edgar laughed, "Cousin, you're asking as if I usually leave work very early. I'm the president, if the others hear this, they'll think I don't love my job."
"You misunderstand, that's not what I meant." Arlice explained with a helpless face, "It's just that I met you by such a coincidence today and asked in passing." Edgar laughed and didn't say anything.
The lift was instantly quiet and the atmosphere was a little awkward.
Edgar thought about the list today and a quick glint of light swept under his eyes as he spoke in a pretentious manner, "Lobby, do you guys rarely go to the Boddy family?" Hearing him mention the Boddy family, Arlice became alert and turned his head to stare at him, "Why do you ask?"
At his reaction, Edgar felt a good deal of amusement, "Why do you look so nervous?"
Arlice realised he had overreacted a little and hastily withdrew his eyes, "No, I was just a little surprised."
"So that's how it is." Edgar gave him a deep look and continued, "I don't think I've seen anyone from the Boddy family visit Grandpa in all the days he's been in hospital." "So you're accusing me now?" Arlice asked.
"How dare I. I just thought it was odd." Edgar gave a harmless smile, "After all, the Boddy family came around a lot before anything happened to Grandpa."
Arlice narrowed his eyes and the hand that fell to his side clenched quietly, "I'll talk to them and ask them to come and see Grandpa."
Of course, that's not what Edgar mainly wanted to say, but -
"Lobby, is anyone in the Boddy family in the export business?" He turned his head to look at Arlice.
The other party visibly panicked, but quickly calmed down, "No."
"No really?"
Arlice didn't answer straight away but frowned and looked at him suspiciously, "Edgar, you're strange, why do you keep asking me about the Boddy family, is it possible that you have a problem with the Boddy family?"
