Pinned down, Callum seized the moment to land another punch on Everett, who took it hard.

Furious, Everett burst out, "Jaime, are you seriously siding with Callum?"

It was a complete misunderstanding! Jaime's hands shook as he quickly let go, raising them in surrender to show he meant no harm. He then tried to pull Callum away, "Callum, stop it, we're all bro-"

But before he could finish, Everett took his chance and hit Callum hard, tasting blood before spitting it out. Callum, now both angry and amused, shot back at Jaime, "So, you're on his side?"

Jaime, desperate to explain, found himself caught between punches from both sides and went down for the count.

"I must've been cursed in a past life to end up brothers with you two!" Jaime groaned. Before his eyes fully closed, he yelled at Derick and the others who were just watching, "Are you seriously not going to help? Waiting for someone to get seriously hurt?" Startled into action, Derick snapped out of it. He and Bill rushed to grab Everett, while other bodyguards pulled Callum away, finally breaking up the fight.

...

In the hospital room.

After Dr. Carrillo gave Selena a sedative, her emotions began to settle, though hope still shone in her eyes. "You can all leave now," Dr. Carrillo said calmly. The nurses nodded and exited.

With the door closed, Dr. Carrillo softly said, "Mother and child are safe, congratulations."

Motherhood is powerful, capable of working miracles. He had witnessed her incredible maternal love. Those simple words brought tears to Selena's eyes. Perhaps her parents were watching over their grandson, her son, from above. She covered her mouth with her hands, stifling her tears, afraid of being overheard, especially by Everett.

Dr. Carrillo and Dr. Campbell had kept the news about her baby's survival secret, giving her the choice of whether to tell Everett or to raise the child on her own.

"Thank you, thank you all so much," she mouthed silently.

"Your child is safe; you can relax. Focus on getting well, because you'll need your strength to raise your son."

Selena slept deeply and peacefully, a

luxury she hadn't indulged in for ages, and woke up in a much better mood. However, upon opening her eyes, she realized she wasn't in the hospital anymore but back in the master bedroom at Moon Bay, her smile instantly vanishing Footsteps approached the door. Propping herself up, Selena saw Everett entering with a tray of nutritious postnatal meals. She' pursed her lips, glaring icily at him. en Ebookex

"Are you planning to lock me up again with your old tricks?"

"Awake? You must be hungry, eat something," Everett replied, seemingly oblivious to her anger, slipping Back into his role of the attentive husband. As he camez closer, Selena noticed the bruises and cuts on his otherwise

handsome face.

"Got into a fight?" she asked, her tone cryptic.

Everett's eyes twinkled, mistaking her question for concern. His lips curled into a slight smile, "Don't worry, it's nothing."

Selena nodded, but as he leaned in to help her, she swung her hand and slapped him sharply across the face.

"I'm not worried; I just think it wasn't enough!"

"Selena!" Everett's face turned cold, his dark eyes boring into hers. But Selena stood her ground, meeting his gaze head-on.

"Mr. Everett, we're done, it's over. I don't want to be with you anymore! Did you hear me?"

The harsh words he'd once thrown at her now came back to pierce him. His dark eyes narrowed, his gaze turning shadowy and dangerous.
