Chapter 399 The Show Begins

Rocky was cognizant so well about Isis and Marin. Although they consistently regarded him withcondescension and wore enraged looks in front of him, they literally had helped him a number oftimes under the table. The time he turned down Lance's offer, if not because of Isis, he would havealready been cast out to the frontline battlefield. While he was in the northeast military camp, hedisappeared now and again, which contravened the military law. However, Marin always turned ablind eye to that. If anyone else had done such an action, Marin would have punished themconforming to the military law.

Besides, Sheridan was close to Isis and Marin and treated them well as if they were his owndaughters. If Sheridan knew that Rocky didn't grant them any support, he would without doubt nagat Rocky about that for a long time. Because of all those grounds, he would not sit by when Isis andMarin were in danger, although he was not such a meddlesome character. Deep inside, Rockyactually was a man who gratified the inclinations of people. Yet, he always showed a cynical attitudein front of the others.

Apart from those elements above, Rocky had another fundamental reason for lending them a hand.Isis was in charge of an army, and her father was at a high position and had predominant power inthe Holy Dragon Empire, all of which would be in his best influences to his future. If the wholeCrimson Dragon Group owed him big time, he would get his mitts on the support of the CrimsonDragon Group. Thus, he had to give his affirmation to Isis’ well-being. After all, she played theultimate important part of his strategy. He set his eyes on being a substantial figure in this world.Rocky kept developing and discovering from what happened to him since his spirit passed throughthe tunnel of time and space and drifted into this younger body. After coming across so much, hedidn't wish to be manipulated by anyone anymore. He wanted to be the maker and master of hisdestiny.

Every time he showed up and came to their aid at the most critical moment, both Lance and Isis feltso grateful to him, which was exactly what Rocky had been planning. No matter how hardhearted aperson was, he or she would appreciate him for saving them out of danger one time after another.So long as he came to their aid again, they would owe him one more time. After all, nothing in theworld would be more of incalculable value than life.

The reason why he gave the thumbs down to be Frontline Commander was also that he preferredthem to owe him. Once he accepted that offer, what he had done now would turn into finishing hisown duty. In other words, he could earn nothing at all. He didn't want to work for the CrimsonDragon Group without reaping any reward. What's more, he didn't give a tinker's curse the positionas a Frontline Commander at all.

What he needed to do now was nothing but waiting for Isis and her father totake the bait. It would only be in his best interest when he returned the Palace City to get back his everything."Does that matter?” Rocky asked as peeking at Isis.

"Of course it matters. You are not a compliant man who will follow an order and come here to saveus from danger. You must have offered some requirement, like what you did last time in the RoughSlope. Am I right? What did my father promise you? What do you propose for?" Isis was as smart asa fox that she already got the right point. After all, she had lessons gathered from previousexperience. She could tell Rocky must have his motive of offering help this time.

"Wow, you are excellent! The Commander in Chief did promise me some benefit. That's why I'mhere.” Rocky directly told Isis the fact of the matter. After all, she would be conscious that sooner orlater.

"What can you gain from my father?" It seemed that his answer was under her assumption."Nothing special! An intermediate Dark Heaven Egg and a yellow spiritual crystal. Besides, I will geta top Dark Heaven Egg if I can repel the Timber Deity Army and save the Wild Heaven Pass out ofdanger or I can help you hold on till the reinforcements come. These are really too many, but I can'trefuse the Commander in Chief after all.” Rocky put a false front that he had no alternative butagree to receive those gifts.

Isis shot a cold glare at him and remained silent. She could tell that it must be Rocky who asked herfather for the exorbitant rewards at first. As she expected, Rocky would never offer any assistancewithout benefit. And now Rocky's answer confirmed her conjecture.

"Come on! Why are you gawking at me that way? I have given up my precious time to scramblehere from far away. What a colossal loss I would encounter if I gained nothing at all! DeputyCommander in Chief, could you show a little sympathy? Don't forget that I'm only an insignificantcaptain. I take high peril to save you guys from danger. If any accident happened to me along theway, how could I afford the grave consequences?" Rocky made an aggravating speech with amotive. He wanted Isis to feel aversion towards him but place dependence on him.

Anger was boiling in her chest as Isis was giving an ear to Rocky, fires of fury and hatred weresmoldering in the small narrowed eyes. But she had to agree with what he said. He was a merecaptain and what he did now was out of his duty. It was also risky for him to come to this dangerousbattlefield. Thus, it was comprehensible for her that Rocky asked for those rewards from her father.But the boiling anger in her chest didn't quiet down at all, because she hated Rocky's character thatonly concerned with his interests. She despised such a person the most.

However, her aversion to him didn't reach the degree that she didn't want to see him anymore.Instead, she sometimes could not help but think about Rocky or wonder what he was doing, whichwas inexplicable even for herself.

"Oh, I almost forget that. Now that you and Commander Marin will change your clothes later, Isuggest that you'd better choose those revealing outfits. The sexier, the better. Then the TimberDeity Army would definitely be convinced that our reinforcements have already arrived, and thinkthat we call the girls from a brothel to have a wild time because of that. When they see us playingaround and enjoying the party time, they would be persuaded that our army forces already aresuperior to them. "Forget that! If you want, you can wear that kind of clothes. Marin and I will on no occasion put onsuch garments! That's just a show! We just pretend to be that kind of girls! Remember that!" Isisglowered at Rocky. She could not believe that Rocky would offer such a ridiculous suggestion. Sheand Marin already discarded their pride to agree with putting on that play on top of the city wall.How could they accept being dressed like prostitutes?

"Whatever! It's just my piece of advice. Now I am the leader of the two thousand soldiers. You andCommander Marin can have the preparation. The show will begin in no time!" Rocky shrugged witha faint smile. He just made a joke with her about the "revealing outfits" part. Once Lance knew thathis daughter and niece put on such clothes in public because of Rocky, Rocky would only be deadmeat. How could he fulfill his great plan then? After concluding his sentence, Rocky walked past Isisand took in charge of the two thousand soldiers she brought back.

Isis shot a deadly glare at Rocky's back. Her brows creased and she clenched her teeth to suppressher desire to beat Rocky right now. However, Rocky played the most important role for them.Whether they could save the Wild Heaven Pass out of danger all depended on Rocky now. Thus, Isismade up her mind to give vent to her anger at Rocky after getting through the current dilemma."Rocky, once I found out any mistakes you made or any of your secrets, I would never show you anymercy!" Isis spoke in hushed tones to herself before she came to Marin.
