Salute To The General -
Chapter 3615 Are You Sure
At the Fire and Roses Tavern, the largest establishment in the Neutral Zone, Nathan and Penny, accompanied by their subordinates like Colin and Ava, entered casually, drawing unusual looks from both vampires and humans present. Even though Nathan had disguised himself as a merchant, his extraordinary presence couldn't be concealed. Moreover, Penny, concealed beneath her cloak, still garnered attention due to her exceptional beauty. Nathan and his companions chose a table and sat down.
A waiter approached, asking, "What would you like to drink?"
Penny instinctively ordered, "Bring us a bottle of Louis Thirteen cognac, a bottle of Classico red wine, and some beers."
Silence descended upon the scene as those words fell.
Even the waiter regarded Penny with a peculiar expression.
Penny, surprised, asked Nathan quietly, "Did I say something wrong?"
It wasn't that she had said something wrong, but in this Neutral Zone, a place teeming with vice, violence, and lawlessness, akin to a frontier, people here didn't typically order high-end liquors like Louis Thirteen cognac or Classico red wine. Even if this tavern had such drinks, they were likely for display, as they were rarely consumed.
Given Penny's immense wealth, she was accustomed to dealing with high-end liquors in her daily life, which is why she ordered them casually. However, she was unaware that her order had immediately drawn the attention of all the vampires and humans in the tavern. In this place filled with opportunists and criminals, Penny's actions silently conveyed to everyone, "I'm inexperienced and extremely wealthy..."
Nathan chuckled. "No, it's just that these drinks might not be available here."
As he spoke, Nathan looked up, directing his gaze toward the waiter.
The waiter hastened to respond, "We do have them, we do. I'll get them for you right away. Please wait a moment."
In no time, the waiter retrieved a bottle of Louis Thirteen cognac and a bottle of Classico red wine from the top of the wine rack. He also brought over a dozen beers and several snacks for Nathan and his group.
Nathan raised a glass of Louis Thirteen cognac, while Penny selected a glass of Classico red wine, about to take a sip.
Suddenly, heavy footsteps echoed from the side.
Nathan frowned, knowing trouble was on its way.
As expected, a brash and domineering voice reached their ears. "Hehe, can you treat me to a couple of bottles of wine?"
Nathan looked up to see a burly man, as robust as a wild boar, standing before them with a mischievous grin.
Penny, Colin, and Ava turned their attention to Nathan.
Nathan pointed at the beer on the table and said casually, "Help yourself to a couple of bottles of beer."
The beefy man scoffed. "Are you kidding? Who wants to drink your beer? I'll take this bottle of Louis Thirteen cognac and this bottle of Classico red wine."
The tavern's patrons, along with the
bartender and waitstaff, all observed with interest. It was evident that the beefy man had targeted Nathan and his group, provoking a confrontation to assess their mettle.
f Nathan displayed weakness, it would imply that he and his group were wealthy but cowardly. They likely wouldn't leave the Neutral Zone alive, as the burly man and his associates would either confront them within the tavern or ambush them outside.
Nathan was well aware that the man was testing him. He smiled, though his eyes were steely, and asked, "Are you sure?"
Bang!
The beefy man slammed a pistol, tainted with the odor of blood, onto the table. With a deep, resonant voice, he declared, "I'm sure. I want those two bottles."
As his words hung in the air, his gaze remained fixed on Penny, sitting next to Nathan, as he added with a malicious grin, "It's not over until she has a drink with me!" Nathan's demeanor turned icy. "Colin!"
The moment the beefy man heard
Nathan call for help, he realized it was time to act. He swiftly grabbed the heavy pistol from the table,. aimingit directly at Nathan's head,
poised to pull the trigger and end his life.
But in the split second before the man could pull the trigger, Colin moved like lightning, grabbing the man's hand just as he was about to fire.
