Chapter 18

SMITH POV

"MATE."

I can't believe it. She's right in front of me. My mate. I have finally found her. This is so unreal.

I noticed she was shaking so hard at first I thought she was cold but then I heard her whimpers. I quickly got back control and moved away from her. She fell on her kneels holding her chest and trying to catch her breath. She was having a panic attack.

I didn't know what to do as I just stood there watching her. Rosie pushed me hard just the same way I pushed her earlier. She rushed to my mate and knelt in front of her.

"Maria listen to my voice and try to relax. I won't hurt you and I won't allow anyone here hurt you so calm down for me please." Rosie said to her in a very soft voice that sure was comforting.

Right before my eyes, I watched as my mate calmed down after hearing Rosie's voice. I wonder how Rosie did that. It's only the Luna who has the power to calm a wolf down so how is it that an Omega could do that too? Just thinking about it was giving me a headache. I just wanted to know that my mate was fine.

I turned to look at Nate, Angel and the other guards that came as backup looking at what was happening.

I turned back to look at my mate who was nodding her head to something that Rosie said to her which I didn't get.

Rosie stood up and pulled my mate up with her. She turned to me and the rest.

"If you won't, I need to take her upstairs so she can change from the clothes she is wearing. She also needs rest too." she said to us.

"Oh it's fine I will take you to the room you can use." Angel said as she walked to them.

I looked at my mate hoping she could just look at me even though it's just once but she didn't. It was like she was scared of raising her head up. I watched as the three girls went up.

Nate turned to the warriors behind us and dismissed them to go back to their post.

I felt Nate touch my shoulder.

"Man are you okay?" he asked me.

"I can't say if I'm okay or not. Infact I'm not okay at all. My mate just had a panic attack just because I touched her. She hates my touch." I said as I scattered my hair as I sat down on the couch close to me.

"I don't think she meet it. I mean you should know from just looking at her that she must have seen worst. I mean from the way she came here dressed. She didn't look so good. I'm guessing she has her reason. If you would ask me, I would say maybe from where she is coming from she was maltreated that's the reason she's the way she is. You just have to be calm and take things slow with her." he said.

I thought about what he said. He was right she didn't look so good and her clothes were shattered. She must have been through all lot and I'm here complaining like a baby because she rejected my touch. I'm such a fool.

I would also push anyone who just jumped on me the way I did to her.

"I don't know man. I don't want her to reject me." I said to him letting my worries out.

"Don't worry. Don't think too much. I'm very sure she won't. You just have to take things slow as I said earlier and give her some time." he said.

We waited for the girls to return. After more than an hour they came down but I was so disappointed to see it was only Rosie and Angel coming down.

"Where is she?" I asked impatiently.

"You need to calm down Smith. She is asleep. She must really have a rough day or maybe days so she needs rest." Angel said.

I let out a sigh. At least I'm glad she's resting now.

"So you have found your mate now huh?" Angel asked as she sat close to Nate.

"Yes I have. But didn't she say anything to about who she is and where she's coming from?" I asked them.

"Well she didn't say much. We only know her name is Maria that's all the information we were able to get from her. But we might get more when she wakes up and she's refreshed." Angel said.

My wolf Chase purred when he heard her name. 'MARIA', such a beautiful name for my mate. I thought smiling. My wolf howl in my head agreeing with me.

"Rosie why are you quiet ever since you came down. Are you alright?" I heard Nate say. I turned to Rosie waiting to hear her reply.

"I'm fine just that I saw something." she said looking nervous.

"What did you see?" I asked feeling worried.

"When she was changing her clothes, I couldn't help but notice she has scars on her back. Some looked old and some looked new." she said looking worried.

My wolf let out a growl as he took control.

"I'm going to kill the fucking bastard who touched her." he said.

I quickly took control before he does something terrible.

"Sorry about that, Chase has been on the edge ever since." I apologized.

"Smith I would advise you to never let Chase out until Maria is used to you. We can have you scaring the poor girl like you did earlier. She had a panic attack. If not that Rosie calmed her down. Yes back to you Rosie, how did you do that?" Angel said. "Do what?" Rosie asked looking so confused.

"The calming thing. The way you spoke that was able to calm Maria not only once but twice" Angel said.

We all turned to look at her waiting for her to speak.

She let out a nervous laugh.

"Can you guys stop looking at me like that? I don't know what you are talking about. I only just spoke to her in a calm voice and that's all." Rosie said.

"But we felt the power in your words." Nate said.

"What power are you talking about? Look I'm serious I don't know what you guys are talking about I only know that I calmed Maria down using a calm tone that's all." Rosie said.

We decided to let the matter go since she was actually saying the truth.

"Are you going back for your patrol or your going to stay for a while?" Angel asked.

"No we will go to the alpha's house so we can talk to him about Maria. He needs to know that a rogue had entered the territory." Nate said.

I let out a sigh. He was right. We had to tell the alpha about this. I just hope he will agree for Maria to join our pack.

"Let's go man." Nate said.

I stood up and left the house with him.

"Hey Smith cheer up okay. I'm here with you so don't worry." he said.

I gave him a little smile.

"Thanks man."

We went to the alpha's house and again we met the Luna first.

"You boys are back again. Well Evans stepped out with Juliet after you left earlier." she said.

"We are not here to see Evans, we are here to see the alpha." Nate said.

She looked at us.

"What's wrong? Smith is oddly quiet and for you to see Bryan then it must be serious." she said.

"We need to speak to him now." Nate said.

"Alright go wait in his office. I will go fetch him in a minute." she said before going upstairs.

Nate and I went to the office and sat down waiting for the alpha to come. My mind went to my mate, Maria. I smiled when I said her name in my mind. I didn't know how to thank the moon goddess for blessing me with a beautiful mate. Yes I know that she looked unkept when I saw her but she was still beautiful. You can imagine how she will look when she has washed up. She will be perfect.

The door opened and alpha Bryan entered with the Luna following him behind. Nate and I quickly stood up to pay our respect.

He walked to his chair and sat down. It was after the Luna sat down too that we both sat down.

"Good evening alpha." Nate and I both greeted.

"Evening boys. I heard you wanted to talk to me. Is there any problem?" he asked.

I first took a deep breath before I spoke.

"Sorry to disturb your night rest but I had to talk to you about something very urgent." I said.

"And what could that be?" he asked.

"Nate and I were on our way to the border after leaving your house when Angel, Nate's mate mind linked him that she could feel a rogue outside their house. We rushed to the house to get the rogue but on entering the house, I realized that the rogue was a very weak looking she wolf who didn't look so well. Also I found out that she was my mate." I said to him.

He looked at me thinking deeply.

"So your telling me that a rogue is in our territory and she is your mate? Is that it?" alpha Bryan asked.

"Yes Sir." I replied.

"Are you sure she hasn't shown any sign of being a threat?" he asked.

"Excuse me for interfering but no she hasn't. Infact she is very fragile and had a panic attack when Smith touched her. Also Rosie noticed when she was changing her clothes that she had scars on her back. She looks so thin like she hasn't been eating so well." Nate said. "Oh such poor thing." the Luna said.

"So where is she right now?" the alpha asked.

"She's in Nate's house. She is sleeping because she hasn't had enough sleep for days. She's free with Rosie and Angel more." I said.

"Alright then when she wakes up tomorrow let me know so we can talk wether to keep her or not." he said.

"Thank you alpha." I said bowing my head.

"Its fine now excuse me you boys I have work to go back to upstairs." he said as he stood up and left.

The Luna walked to me and held my hands.

"Don't worry Smith everything is going to be just fine okay?"

I smiled at her.

"Yes Luna. Thank you." I said smiling.

I just hope she's right. I just hope everything is going to be fine. I only hope.
