Episode 32

BROOKE

This is life! Right here!

I’m laying on a sun lounger with my book by the side of me and a cup of tea, looking at the sunrise as it comes into view on the balcony that we have. I have been awake for an hour. I’m in absolute heaven.

Daisy is sleeping soundly in the room. I laugh a little. She has been restless for the last two nights as she is missing Rex. I have a funny feeling she might go back home but I’m not ready yet.

I’m learning more about myself every day. I love the sun! I love the ocean! And I have sketched this amazing scenery twice. I drew a small one to send to my dad which I know he has had. Luna Sophia rang Adonis to let me know.

The other one is mine, I want to put it up when I get back. But I don’t know when that will be.

I know Hudson is my mate but he hasn’t exactly done anything to tell me how he feels. I wonder if he loves that other girl and that they are together.

“Don’t think like that!” says Willow, she has been awake with me. She loves getting up early to look at the sunrise with me. It is like heaven all the time, a brand new day that comes.

“Why shouldn’t I?” I say back to her “I know you want to be with him Willow; I can feel your pain through the bond.”

She sighs “I know, I am trying to not let you feel it as I know you are working on everything but I do want our mate.”

I look out as the sun slowly comes up through the sea, well looks like it does from here.

Joe has been helping me gain confidence with everything. I have even worn a bikini around the pool. That might not sound too bad to anyone but it is when you have loads of scars all over your body and when I did that the first time, they were all on show. I have a massive one on my arm. There were a few stares but Joe said to ignore everyone and embrace them. They are a part of me. If I show that they bother me, someone will react but if I don’t acknowledge them, then no one will bat an eyelid. A few people have come up to me and have asked where they come from, mainly children in the pack but once I explained to them what happened, they never bothered me again. I am still working on it but when I do explain the story, again and again, I feel like there is so much weight that has been lifted from me.

I have become a lot healthier too. I have been training with Daisy every day which is improving my ability and some of my powers are slowly coming to the surface too. I can feel people’s exact emotions and also if you piss me off, I have more strength to fight back. Both I and Willow have been working together. We are slowly working out what we can do but we still don’t know what we are.

“You’re awake,” says a voice to the side of me, I look over my shoulder to see Daisy with her messy hair, all over the place. She walked towards the sun lounger next to me and sits down.

“You really like the sunrise don’t you?” she says with an amused look on her face. I smile back at her.

“You do realize that I am making up for lost time” I sign to her. She smiles back.

“I know you are, also you getting the hang of signing too,” she says.

We have been having a lesson every day for two hours on sign language in the last two weeks; I have picked it up really quickly. They have given me a sense of communication with people. Most of the pack can sign and Daisy is picking up some too. She doesn’t need to sign as I am not deaf but due to the no voice I have, it has helped me communicate with her. If she doesn’t understand I write it down especially if it is too long to communicate to her about something.

“Ah, the most gorgeous girls are awake,” says a voice from behind, Adonis.

He walks around and gives us each a k**s on the cheek. We both smile.

He has brought the post with him.

He looks at both of us with his cheeky smile, “You both are popular today, you both have two letters each” he says. I look at him.

I wonder who they are off, he hands them to us.

I place mine down on the lounger as I look at Daisy who has now gone a little pale, “This one is off Rex” she says.

She gets up and walks back into our room.

“Aren’t you going to read your letters Brooke?” he says.

“Why the rush?” I mouth to him.

He smiles, leans down to pick them up again and looks at them “I think you might want read this one here off these people, especially your dad but also your mate.”

My eyes went wide, did he just say, mate.

I stare ahead of him, so I don’t look at him so I don’t see his expression even though my power tells me he is intrigued and happy.

I don’t give him anything, he sighs “I think you should see what he has to say, you might get the answers you have been waiting for” he gets up to move but stops “You are coming along so well my princess, you need closure and to know what it is he feels too. I know you are scared but you have people around you, who love you and won’t let anyone hurt you.”

He turns to leave “I will leave the both of you to read, I will see you in a little while.”

He has now left our room and I’m now staring at the letters that I have in front of me.

I grab the letter from my father to read it. It is said that he misses me but is happy to hear from me and the sketch that I drew is up in the house. Alanna has framed it. He mentioned about Aunt Lesley, who I still haven’t met tidy due to all the drama of me leaving and her mate Beta Logan, they have finally mated and marked each other, also he told me the same stuff as before and has asked the same question, when am I coming home and that he misses me.

I can’t concentrate on the letter as I keep glancing at the letter behind it.

Once I finish my letter, I place it back in the envelope and put it in my book.

I hold the letter but as I am contemplating on opening it, Daisy comes from the room. She sits down with her letters.

She looks over to me “Who are they off?” she says but I don’t answer. She must have seen the writing on the envelope as she whispers “Hudson” says and I just nod.

“Are you going to read it?” she says but I still don’t answer her.

She looks at me.

“Rex sent me a letter, he told me how sorry he is and that he is missing me so much,” she says in a whisper. She stays quiet for a moment.

“I don’t know what to think. How am I supposed to get over the fact that he slept with a human girl even knowing that I was his mate and also getting her pregnant. I thought we couldn’t get pregnant by humans” she says. I let her carry on as I know she needs to vent as she has been keeping everything bottled up since we got here.

“Joe looked it up for me and they can get a human pregnant, the human must be in ovulation period to do so, apparently it is like when we are in heat for them,” she says. She looks over at me “Brooke, I don’t want to go back just yet; I know you are not ready but……..” she says and places a hand on my hand, I look up at her “I will leave after next week, I will leave you here if you want and you can come back when you are ready.”

I look back at her in shock. I never thought of being on my own for a while but thinking about it, it would be nice to see and do things for myself.

“I think you should leave tonight” I sign to her, she looks surprised.

But before she can say anything “I think you need to talk to him, face to face. You need to be able to be with him and forgive him. But before you go, my Aunt Lesley went through something similar with Beta Logan, he knew about her being his mate at a young age and he mated someone else. You should ask for some advice” I sign.

She looks at me and smiles “I will ring her now and ask what she thinks I should do”

I look back at the letter in my hand.

“I think you should read what he has to say, you need answers and they might be in there,” she says, she gets up and leans forward and k****s my cheek “I will ring your aunt and I will let you know what I decide to do.”

I smile up at her and nod.

She walks away and I look back at the letter.
