The Alpha’s Mute Mate -
Episode 39
HUDSON
Everyone replaces seats around my father’s office and I know most are looking at me.But I know two are glaring at me, possibly more.
I am covered in Aubrey’s b***d but I need to get this out in the open. They need to know everything, even what that b***h told me towards the end.
I look around but I don’t give anyone a chance to talk but my father says “Hudson, what’s the hell is the meaning of this? You knew that Brooke was your mate all this time?” he says, letting a snarl escape.
I look at him and sigh “I did know she was my mate a while back” I said which earned a few snarls but I ignored them “I was a fool back then. I was led to believe that humans were weak by a man who I thought was a friend but when you banished him, I didn’t know what to believe anymore. I lost myself. All I wanted was fun, fun before I found my mate.”
“How did you know about Brooke?” asks Alanna “You told us you never heard of her or forgotten all about her at least.”
I look towards Alanna but Daisy’s face is full of hate towards me.
“I was hooking up with Madison back then; we would have s*x in her house. I remember faintly sniffing a scent but it was hard to make out. When I went downstairs, I saw Brooke. She had her neck covered up and I never put two and two together really. She never spoke, she kept her head down but she was sniffling. Asher said mate but when I sniffed the air, she was human. I was shocked that I was paired with a human for a mate. I told her I would reject her if I ever saw her again. I left that day to go back to the pack house” I said.
There was a loud growl coming from Jackson, “You knew I was looking for my daughter even back then, you didn’t say anything, not a word” he says with a snarl “We could have saved her.”
I look back at him but it is Daisy who catches us off guard “My brother is not the only one to blame in all this, you knew what was going on. You lived there, this was before you met your precious second chance mate” she says, walking towards him but turns to glare at me “You knew before then that Brooke was your mate, you knew when we were kids.”
I look stunned at her.
How does she know that? No one knew what I thought back then.
As if she was reading my mind, she glares at me “Brooke revealed a lot to me before I Came back here, she told me that she remembers that you were in talks with my mate, she heard you tell him” she says, Rex tenses behind her and we both look at each other.
“She couldn’t have heard us” he said “we were hiding in the……” but Daisy growls loud and cuts him off “Brooke and I were playing hide and seek, she hid behind your secret den and she heard you, every single word.”
She looks back and forth between the both of us. Everyone else in the room is glaring at us but they stay silent.
“You know her mother gave her an option of staying here with us or going with her to leave. Brooke told me she was going to stay with us but after what you both said she must have put it in a PG version for me, she changed her mind. She went with her mother to leave this place” she says “I hold both of you responsible for her leaving and what happened to her.”
“Brooke would have stayed” says Jackson in a weak voice “her mother told me she would let her decide, when we asked Brooke, she looked like she had been crying. She told us that a weak human can’t stay in this pack, now it makes sense” he says growling towards me.
He turns and grabs me by the throat “My daughter would have had a voice, she would have been safe but you scared her into thinking she was weak.”
Rex and Shane grab hold of Jackson and pull him off me; they stay in front of me.
Austin looks up; he hasn’t said a word about any of this but his face says a thousands of them.
“Both of you are too blame” he says “I know what Hudson did was wrong on so many levels but you are a fine one to talk to, you were drunk all the time in that house. You made it a mission to torture her as well as my mother who actually thought she had a right to torture her as well” he shouts.
He gets up but Tasha touches his arm to calm him down but he glares at Jackson “Did you ever wonder why she had cigarette burns on her arms? Did you know how they got there?” he says with a snarl.
Where is he getting at?
Jackson looks at him, trying to think back to that time but everyone in this room except Amy and Shane knew how his drinking was. He was really bad.
Austin moves closer with Tasha still holding onto his arm “I will tell you shall I, it was you” he says through gritted teeth.
A few shocked gasps leave everyone’s mouth, including mine.
I glare at Jackson, his face goes white “I never, I would never hurt her” he says through tears that are now flowing freely down his face.
Austin doesn’t back down “You did, you know how I know. I had to stop you from doing it. Brooke was in that basement, her living hell at the hands of Aubrey but also you. You went down there and I followed you. You were screaming at her, in her face, telling her that she should have died, not your mate. You smelled like a bar at the time but you smoked, you placed the cigarette on her arm, she couldn’t scream but she was crying. You never batted an eyelid but I stopped you, I made sure you went back upstairs and passed out on the couch” he says “that was not the first time you did either, Brooke had loads of burns all over her arms and you kept putting them out on her.”
“Even though my mother wiped her memories, even her self-consciousness was telling her not to forgive you, at the hospital she didn’t want anything to do with you” he shouts at him.
Jackson’s a mess.
Alanna is looking at him but not doing anything to control the situation which is odd.
Everyone else was glaring at him.
After a few moments, “I think we all need to take a breather and rest. We should come at this in another light” says my mother and without a glance, Jackson grabs Alanna’s arm and pulls her out of the room.
Everyone stares at the door.
I look down at my feet.
I feel like an a*s, a defeated a*s.
Everyone starts to leave.
I leave but I’m stopped by my mother “Son, what you did was completely wrong but you need to replace a way to work this out” she says.
I give her a quick nod; I can feel everyone glaring at me as I walk past them through the door and head to my bedroom.
