Chapter 2

Skylar's POV

I shifted and ran to the pack border where I stopped and hesitated for afew moments. “What should we do?” asked my wolf Athena. “I don'tknow Athena.” I say to her. I heard a patrol guard coming so I picked adirection and started running. I ran for 8 hours straight until my pawsgave out underneath me. I shifted back to my human form to let mywolf get some rest as she was exhausted from running all this way onceI was shifted back and dressed I found a spot under a tall tree to laydown. Once I layed down my exhaustion started to set in and I fell intoa peaceful dreamless slumber. I awoke on the forest floor when I hearda twig snap, I instantly stood up scared and realized that I hadcompany. When I took a look at my surroundings I noticed 4 extremelygorgeous guys were standing around me completely shirtless corneringme into the tree I was sleeping under moments ago. I could tell by thefeel in the air that one of them was the alpha, that is when one of thevery handsome men who I assumed was the alpha spoke. I couldn'thelp but feel slightly calm around them which I found very confusingwhen I noticed the delicious smell of chocolate and mint that waftedfrom one of them which only added to my confusion.

“Hello there I am Alpha Jace of the Night Shade Pack. Now tell me whatyou think you are doing on my territory rogue.” He growled out at mein his alpha tone. I faced the angry alpha terrified at what he might doto me for being here. “I am so, so, so, sorry alpha I didn't mean totrespass on your territory please forgive me I was just passing throughI'm not quite sure where I'm gonna go but I'm just so very sorry.” I sayterrified and then I begin to cry uncontrollably. That's when Jace didsomething that no one was expecting, he walked towards me andpulled me into him and hugged me to his chest. When he did that thesmell of chocolate and mint surrounded me and it was comforting andmade me feel safe in his arms so much so that I started to cry my heartout even harder into his shoulder. While I was crying and breathing inhis oh so nice scent I noticed the slight feeling of tingles that I couldfeel from where he was touching me which had me wondering if hecould feel them too.

“Hey there it's gonna be alright he cooed into my ear. Why aren't youin a pack, a gorgeous girl like you shouldn't be out here wanderingaround all alone. Do you have a pack? I'm sure there are people whomiss you" he said to me.

“We agree as well” the other 3 guys that were standing nearbywatching chimed in.

I looked up at all of them with scared eyes “I used to have a pack but Ileft it a few days ago. I couldn't stay there any longer and endure thehatred and abuse anymore.” I said sadly

Jace began to become visibly tense and angry at what I had said to him,his tone had completely changed like he was upset at the fact that I hadbeen abused which made me wonder why he would care so much aswe had just met.

“What happened to make you leave your old pack? What pack wereyou from, and what's your name darling?” Jace asked me in a soft yettense tone.

“I'm Skylar, Skylar Rose and I was apart of the Silver Moon Pack. Myparents were the Alpha and Luna of the pack before they were killed ina rogue attack and then my father's beta took over as Alpha andblamed me for their deaths which is when the abuse started. I got usedto the hatred and slurs and every other type of abuse they gave me butwhen my mate rejected me, it just put me over the edge and I couldn'tstand being there anymore and so I ran away from them. Even mybrother and the alpha beat me so bad once that they nearly killed me.Please don't let them know that you found me I don't wanna go backthere, I'll leave right now if you want and I will never step foot on yourterritory again. I'm so very sorry I know you are the strongest packaround, just please don't kill me I don't want to die yet.” I whimper asfresh tears make their way down my flushed cheeks.

He stared at me with shock and anger swirling in his eyes and he let outa loud grow! “Your mate rejected you what a fucking bastard, as for theabuse you had to go through who would be so cruel to someone sobeautiful. I wouldn't even wish something like that on a vampire andyour pack was supposed to be your family and protect you not harmyou. If you would like to you could join my pack, we will make sure thatyou are properly fed, give you a place to live and call home, we willtrain you and protect you and make you feel welcome. You will neverhave to go back there ever again.” Alpha Jace said with a sheepish grinand love and care in his voice.

I stared at him in shock and when I slowly looked around at the other 3guys standing around us and they were staring at me with pleadingeyes. As I looked at them thinking about it I couldn't resist it anymoreand decided to not throw away my only chance to finally be happy andhave a true family and home because being with them made me feelsafe and wanted which is something I hadn't felt in a very long time.“Yes I would love to join your pack and I promise you that I will not letyou down alpha.” I said smiling with tears of joy running down my face.They all smiled at me happily while Jace hugged me even tighter to himwhich made me feel safe and relaxed and just felt oh so nice after hehugged me he held me hand while introducing me to everyone. “Wellin that case I would like to introduce you to everyone. These two on myright are the twins Jasper and Alex they just turned 18 a few days ago.”I looked at them and smiled and they both had big happy goofy grinson their faces and then the next thing I know they both decided tosandwich me between them and give me the biggest bear hug ever. Wefinally pulled apart when we heard a low growl come from Jace whichmade us all look at him in confusion when he realized what he just didhe blushed in embarrassment and looked away from us shyly.

“Yayy we have a new sister” exclaimed the one I presumed to be Jasper“No she’s my sister” Alex said and then they began to argue over who'ssister I was and when they started getting heated and their tone gotharsher I flinched and started to back away from them. Jace noticedwhat I was doing and came over and hugged me to him before turningto the twins “STOP, guys don't you realize that you are scaring Skylar.”he said to them

“We're sorry alpha” the twins said in unison while they looked down inembarrassment.

“I'm sorry alpha.” I said to him shyly

He took my face into his hands and said “Hey you have nothing to besorry for and you don't have to call me alpha just call me Jace okaii.” Igrinned widely at that and then a very tall guy around 6'7" started tospeak to everyone.

“Hey what about me I wanna meet my new sister too” he said poutinglike a little kid

“Whoops sorry bro I kinda forgot you were even here, ha ha, where aremy manners this is my beta and best friend Lucas” Jace said introducingus finally.

"Hi" I said in a small voice

“Hey” Lucas replied with a kind smile making me feel welcome.

The alpha I mean Jace came up to me and took me by the hand andsaid “Why don't we bring you home now to meet the rest of the pack.”When he said that it made me feel so happy to finally have foundsomewhere that I felt wanted and safe. When I left I never thought Iwould replace a place to ever call home again but now I do and I am sograteful for meeting these extremely hot guys. As we were walking backto the pack house the twins were arguing most of the way over whom Iwas going to love more. I couldn't help but laugh at them my newfound family.
