Chapter 225 I Want Daddy
However, when they entered the ward, it was empty.
Elias frowned and stood silently in the room.
Just then, a nurse happened to pass by the room, and Yacob called out to her, asking, "Miss, may I ask where the patient in this room is? The child with a high fever and was receiving an IV drip."
"Oh," the nurse replied. "The child's mother took him home. The child woke up and couldn't replace his father. He cried and refused to cooperate, so we prescribed some fever-reducing medication for them to take home."
Worry filled Elias' eyes upon hearing that. Was he asking for me when he woke up?
He suddenly turned around, preparing to go directly to Northern No. 1 to visit Aiden.
Yacob also had a hunch about Elias' intentions and followed him without hesitation.
After returning to Northern No. 1, Amanda poured a glass of water and prepared to trick little Aiden into taking the fever-reducing medicine. However, the little boy kept crying and insisted on wanting his father. He seemed to still have a fever and was somewhat delirious, speaking incoherently.
"Daddy... I want Daddy. Daddy..." Aiden curled up on the couch as tears clung to his long lashes, looking very pitiful.
Amanda felt helpless and decided to stick a fever patch on Aiden's forehead first. "Daddy is busy with work. He'll come and visit you later. Let's take your medicine first, okay? Be a good boy..."
The little one was never this clingy to Elias, but for some reason, he kept wanting his father this time.
"I'll wait for Daddy to come back before taking my medicine, then," said the little guy obstinately. "I want to wait for him."
Amanda didn't know what to do at this point. She looked back at Selina, and both of them were at a loss. However, asking her to call Elias and beg him to keep the child company was impossible now. She grew increasingly pissed at the thought of how Elias left without ever looking back after receiving Stephanie's call.
If she had known it would turn out like this, she should have told Aiden from the beginning that his father was dead and that he didn't have a father. That way, they wouldn't be in this situation now. She had only recently made up her mind for the child to recognize Elias, but now, she regretted it because that sc*m of a man didn't deserve to be Aiden's father.
Selina also noticed Amanda and Elias' strained relationship back at the hospital, sensing some resentment.
Though she didn't know what had happened between them, she suggested, "Why don't we have Mr. Winters come over and accompany Aiden? As busy as he is, Aiden is important too....." However, before Selina could finish her words, Amanda scoffed. "Him? Busy with work? Huh, more like busy preparing for the engagement with his new fiancée. He has no time for his ex-wife's child." "What? Is Mr. Winters getting married? I thought he wanted to reconcile with you and raise Aiden!"
"Don't mention this ever again. Just hearing it makes me sick, and I will never reconcile with him. Let him marry whomever he wants. My child doesn't need his company. He was never around in the past four years, from the first pregnancy test to the prenatal check-ups to childbirth. I survived just fine without him. What use is he?!"
Resentment filled and surged within Amanda, and her anger wasn't directed only at Elias but also at herself. She was angry at her own weakness, for she was repeatedly hurt by this sc*m of a man. However, looking at her feverish baby, she couldn't help but feel heartbroken.
Suddenly, a certain someone popped into her head, and Amanda gently suggested to Aiden, "Baby, Daddy is really busy right now, and we don't know when he'll come. How about I ask Mr. Simon to come and keep you company?"
"No... I want my own Daddy. I have a Daddy, don't I? I want Daddy..."
Before, when his birth father was still unknown to him, Simon seemed like the best choice, but now that Elias had appeared, Aiden insisted on his birth father being by his side.
Both Amanda and Selina were at a loss. The little one refused to take the medicine, so they could only keep applying the fever patch and using physical methods to lower his temperature, but it was too slow. Finally, Amanda made up her mind and looked at Selina, saying, "Selina, hold him down. I'm going to force the medicine down his throat. We can't wait any longer. If the fever continues like this, it could damage his brain."
"But..." Selina felt a twinge of uneasiness. Wasn't it too cruel to force such a young child to take his medicine like that?
Amanda also hesitated, but she had no choice. They couldn't allow Aiden to continue being so willful, after all.
At that, Selina sat on the couch, holding Aiden tightly and gripping his little face while Amanda forcefully stuffed the pill into his mouth and tried to pour water in...
"No, Mommy! I don't want it! I don't want to take the medicine... No!" The little guy resisted fiercely, spilling water all over the floor and spitting out the pill.
Selina was taken aback as she held the struggling boy in her arms. To be honest, it looked quite heartbreaking.
"Hold him down and continue to give it to him. We can't let him have his way anymore." Amanda steeled herself. In truth, it pained her deeply. After all, he had come out of her. How could she not feel heartbroken?
Just then, the doorbell rang.
Inside the house, Aiden's cries and screams echoed everywhere as if he were being killed.
Amanda and Selina couldn't be bothered to answer the door. They just wanted to get the medicine down his throat first.
Outside the door, Elias and Yacob rang the doorbell, but no one answered. They could hear Aiden's screams from inside, sounding like he was being slaughtered.
Elias' face turned pale, and Yacob thought something had happened inside. "Let's go straight in, sir. Something seems to be wrong."
With that, Elias unlocked the door with his fingerprint and entered the house. He was stumped upon entering the living room and seeing what was happening, but very quickly, he hit the roof. "What are you all doing?!"
The sight of his son crying and suffering pained him.
Amanda and Selina both turned their heads in surprise at the sound of the voice to replace Elias appearing in the house.
"What are you doing here?! Get out!" Amanda couldn't help shouting in anger.
Meanwhile, Aiden took the opportunity to break free, jumped off the couch, and pounced into Elias' arms while crying loudly, "Daddy, save me."
Elias lifted his son, gently patting his back and comforting him. He said, "It's okay, Daddy's here. Don't cry anymore."
The little guy sobbed on the man's broad shoulder as if he had suffered immense grievances.
"Why are you guys still torturing him when he's already crying so badly?" Elias frowned with displeasure as he held his little boy closer.
Livid, Amanda lashed out with extreme hostility. "Torture him? Am I supposed to leave him with his fever and not feed him medicine, then?! Are you going to take responsibility if his brain gets damaged?!" Suddenly, dead silence filled the room. No one said a word.
"Aiden." Elias looked at the little one in his arms and asked softly, "Why won't you take your medicine? You have a high fever, so you need to take the medicine to bring it down."
