The Rebel
Chapter 6

… ….. Logan’s point of view… …

She was fascinating.

Those brown orbs had a spark that lit something inside me.

Her words were really fun.

Bastard

Wasn’t that what my little lioness called me, if only she knew the real me.

I was much worse than that, she couldn’t replace the right word to describe me.

She’ll be hard to control, I already knew that.

But in time she’ll learn, I’ll teach her obedience.

Maybe she’s lived like a thug all her life. Maybe she’d never been taught manners.

But given that she’ll be my Luna, the most powerful female figure on the board. She should learn all that.

She should learn to submit to me in particular and not to everyone else.

Unlike normal submissive females, she had a fire in her, the fire that could even burn her.

Female Alpha?

The idea was ridiculous. If she could even survive a month, I’d consider her lucky.

I knew what power-hungry Alphas were like.

They would seek to harm and kill her.

And then, when she realized her mistake, she’d come looking for me herself.

Surrendering herself completely to me.

Smiling to myself, I shook my head and continued my work.

The highest position on the board demanded great responsibility.

And I had to work diligently.

My work was interrupted when one of my men entered.

He was a tracker, the best in the country if I do say so myself.

But the task I gave him was far more difficult.

“Good evening Alpha. I’m bringing you the information you requested.”

I nodded, asking him to settle down.

He wiped the sweat from his brow, and began with his replaceings.

“King Alpha is retiring next month. Voting for the successor will be open. You hold the maximum credits in the council so far, but we can’t forget that his son is also vying for the throne, making him your only competitor. I’m afraid the vote will be rigged again this time and the King will use every tactic to award this position to his first-born.”

I clenched my fist; I’ve never hated a man as much as King Alpha.

He took everything from me and I swore I’d never let him play his bloody games with me again.

I was a child at the time and couldn’t do anything to save my parents.

But now I’ve promised myself that I’ll take revenge for everything.

This throne was my father’s, he stole it in a coup and I’ll get back what was always mine.

My rightful position.

“What about his daughter?”, I asked and he shook his head no.

“It’s been eight years since she left Alpha. Nobody knows anything about her, some even say she’s dead.”

She was my only pawn, I could use her in this game.

The only way to blackmail that bastard, like he blackmailed my father.

To make him feel what it was like to lose a loved one.

“Is that all? Name? A picture? Anything at all?”

“Princess Zara Saravera Knight. Brown eyes like her mother, pale skin and brown hair since childhood.

No one has seen her since the day she disappeared or, as some say, was abducted. Nothing more, Alpha.”

That wasn’t enough. I needed to know more if I was to replace her.

“However, there is this royal sign that every royal child must wear, regardless of gender. Her branding ceremony took place before her abduction, so I suppose if she’s alive somewhere… She must have the mark of the royal emblem on her.”

Who knew better than me?

The branding ceremony was pure torture, but all royal children had to do it.

Even I put up with it.

Wolves had been observing unhealthy rules for centuries.

“We’re running out of time. Find her. Or else, replace the means to kidnap her son. No way am I letting that bastard win again!”

He nodded and left.

Leaving me in silence.

I ran my hand through my hair, frustrated by the news.

But then my gaze fell on the clock and the idea of seeing my companion, made all my worries disappear.

I stood up, leaving my office.

My wolf was roaring with excitement at the thought of seeing the beautiful brunette again.

… … … … … … … … … … … … … … …..

A girl lay in a cellar, her tattered clothes useless for warming her in this icy place.

She moistened her lips just to taste the b***d, which made her deform in return.

She tried to move, but the restraints on her wrists and ankles only hurt her skin.

“Princess Zara. You’d better not try a stunt like that again,” said one of her father’s inferiors, standing in front of her.

Arms crossed, he glared at the stubborn 15-year-old princess.

“He’s not only your father, but the King of our region. Trying to harm him is a serious offense. No matter who you are.”

She smirked at him and rolled her eyes fearlessly.

“And what about the fact that he hurt my mother? Wasn’t she your Luna too?”

The man clenched his fist and she smiled, knowing she’d managed to shut him up.

“We do not question the actions of our King. We have no right to, Mademoiselle Zara.”

She chuckled and shook her head.

“Of course you don’t. You’re all just dogs following his orders. How pathetic you are!”

He sighed, knowing there was no point in explaining to the girl.

The hatred she felt for her father could get her killed.

“Zen comes out.”

A voice sounded from behind and the Beta greeted the King. He left them alone, wishing the little girl would survive this ordeal.

The King stared at his second born, his burning eyes showing that the girl refused to bend down before him.

Pulling up a chair, he sat down opposite her, watching her intently.

“Why did you poison my food, Zara? Is it because you’ve begun to hate your own father?”

She didn’t answer, just watched.

He ordered the guards to remove her handcuffs, making her rub her wrists in pain.

Snuggling into a corner, she held her head high.

“I can get you out of here, this place isn’t for you. But, you must promise not to repeat this mistake,” he said and she looked at him in disbelief.

“It wasn’t a mistake, Dad. I poisoned your food on purpose. You don’t deserve to live after what you did to my mother! You’re all bastards!”

He glared at him and moved his head in disappointment, rising from his seat.

“If you keep behaving like this, I’m afraid, Zara, no man will accept you as a companion.

Girls are supposed to be obedient and considerate. Not like you.

Your mother failed to teach you the rules, now it’s my turn to teach you.”

“You bastard! I’m glad she failed or I’d have had the same fate as her. Killed by her own companion who didn’t even shed a tear over her death!”

“I didn’t kill her, Zara. I don’t want to repeat that over and over again. It was her choice.”

She scoffed, rising on shaky legs.

Head held high, she glared at him.

“You forced her to commit suicide. And you know it! Stop making people believe your lies!”

“As for having a companion? If all mates are like you? I swear I’ll reject him myself!”

Her father turned to leave, sighed and ran a hand through his hair.

“Forgive me, but this is important. If you don’t learn to respect men, you won’t be allowed to leave this place. I hope you learn sooner.”

With that, he closed the door as she looked at him angrily.

Kicking the plate beside her, she ran her hands through her messy hair.

… … … … … … … … … … ….

“Speak up, bitch! Where’s your father!”

A man shouted at her, while the guards held the girl down.

Holding her arms and legs, they tried to prevent her from struggling.

“I don’t know where that bastard is! Go get him yourself, you scumbag!”

The guard kicked her in the stomach, causing her to hold back her scream.

B***d poured from her lips as she bit down hard enough to hold back.

“You need a boost, princess? All right, then. Why don’t we play a game?” he said, moving closer to her and ordering the guards to stand back.

Her strengthless body fell to the floor and she breathed heavily.

Holding her chin roughly, he made her raise her face to look at him.

“Every time you refuse to answer?”

His fingers moved lower to run along her neck, his eyes twinkling with amusement.

“I’ll put a new mark on your beautiful skin. Reminding you what happens if you disobey.”

She saw that a guard was handing her a whip.

She swallowed the saliva stuck in her throat and braced herself.

“Do your best, bastard.”

And with that, the metal parts studded on the whip tore at her skin and her head fell back in excruciating pain.

Raising her eyes to the ceiling, she waited for the second blow.

And he did.

He hit her, making her escape a scream from his lips this time.

I woke up, sweat pouring down my forehead.

I looked around to replace myself in the comfort of my room and my heart stilled.

These nightmares would never go away, no matter how hard I tried.

Breathing heavily, I wiped the sweat from my forehead and poured myself a glass of water.

Swallowing it, I closed my eyes when a voice made me spit out the sip.

“Hello, my love. Hope you missed me?”
