“Remington, you must have a busy day ahead.

I’ll keep Hannah company, okay?” Peterson chimed in, standing close to Hannah with a friendly smile.

“You handle the horse race, I’ll stay with her.”

Hannah sensed a shift in the mood and was about to say something when another person entered.

Surrounded by bodyguards, Leif Pierce strode into the hall.

“Is this the Lyons family villa? Not very impressive.”

His tone was so dismissive that everyone seated near the sofa turned to look at him.

Leif noticed them and, spotting Remington, walked directly over.

“You’re Remington Lyons, right? I’m Leif Pierce, Maloney’s younger cousin.”

Maloney’s cousin? Hannah sized him up and thought he had the demeanor of a thug, not at all like someone from a reputable family.

Catching Hannah’s look, Leif’s gaze brightened.

“Oh, we have a beautiful foreign woman here? Come here, my dear.”

He raised a hand towards her without hesitation, signaling for her to come closer.

Hannah stood still, gave him a cool glance, and said nothing.

That brief look seemed to excite Leif, and he asked with a smile, “What’s your name, and who are you here with?”

At that moment, Peterson stepped forward, positioning himself between Hannah and Leif.

He smiled at Leif and replied, “She’s an important guest of my brother’s.

Who exactly are you?”

“As I said, I’m Maloney’s cousin, the second son of the Pierce family!” Leif declared arrogantly.

Chuckling, Peterson said, “But we only invited Maloney from the Pierce family to this event.

I don’t recall inviting you.”

Rolling his eyes, Leif scoffed, “My father told Maloney to bring me along.

I wasn’t stopped outside, so I came in, right? I’m well aware that events such as this do not have many rules.

Besides, Remington hasn’t objected.

Now tell me, who are you?”

Ignoring Leif, Peterson turned back to Hannah with a grin, “Hannah, how about a stroll outside?”

“If you’re going for a walk, I’ll tag along,” Leif insisted, following them stubbornly.

Remington remained aloof, only speaking to Hannah a few times and otherwise saying nothing.

Hannah wanted to ease the tension in the air.

But just as she was considering inviting Remington to join her, Maloney walked in.

Her eyes brightened, and she couldn’t stop herself from chuckling lightly.

He had walked in at the perfect moment.

Hannah quickly moved over to Maloney and slipped her arm through his.

In a playful tone, she asked, “Why are you so late? I’ve been waiting for a while.”

A brief silence fell over the room.

Maloney looked down at Hannah in surprise, not understanding what was happening.
