Twisting Her Fate
Chapter 52

In the half moon pack, Gabriel sits on the couch just staring at the front door. He hasn't even bothered to change, his body still smelling heavily of liquor and vomit, his clothes so wrinkled and stained that it is hardly possible to tell that they are expensive

materials, even the original color is no longer obvious.

His blonde hair is a bird's nest on top of his head. The longer length only serves to make him look completely insane. The pack members that walk in only either turn around and walk out or skirt as far away from him as they can in order to get back to their rooms. No one daring to say a word to the man who is staring at the door, so focused yet looking slightly hazy. Apart from looking messy, insane, and generally chaotic, Gabriel is rubbing his chest so often that it nearly looks like a nervous tick.

Finally, Maggie walks in the door. Not looking much more put together than Gabriel. Her hand has been run through her dyed blonde hair so many times that it has lost its soft, loose waves and looks more like a dried up puffy mess.

Gabriel stares at Maggie in disdain. Her jacket isn't even done up and is hanging off her shoulders. Her red lingerie completely exposed, her red high heels hanging off one finger. She looks like she is doing the walk of shame at nearly midday. "I didn't realize we were so hard up that you have been selling it on street corners like a common pr*stitute"

Maggie looks up in shock, not expecting to meet Gabriel's gaze. She looks down at herself, suddenly well aware of what she is wearing. She is so stunned that she can't even think of a reasonable excuse. It's not like after this massive hesitation that she can run to him and pretend she dressed this way for him. The is no excuse for looking the way she does, that would not enrage the egotistical alpha. Gabriel's whole body vibrates with rage but his voice is cold and dripping with venom. "Don't just stand there with your mouth open. I'm assuming you have been doing enough of that this morning. How dare you walk in here looking like that? Looking like you have just tried to seduce someone and are so disappointed that you didn't succeed. Looking like the worst thing is for you to crawl back in here when the greener pastures kicked you out, turned you away at the gate. How dare you try and throw away all those years of kissing my a*s just to go running to Alpha Storm when the pack standings come out" Maggie opens and shuts her mouth. Her wide eyes and lips moving making her resemble a dumb goldfish more than anything else. She has nothing to refute and after the incident with Connor her brain seemed to have disappeared all together. She doesn't even know what she was thinking by coming straight back to the half moon pack. She should have gone back to her parents house to regroup. For some reason, she decided that Gabriel was still missing as her phone still showing no missed calls. She would never have expected him to be sitting there.

She had decided that the half moon pack was a better option to retreat as she didn't want to have to tell her father that she had failed so miserably. But Gabriel being here made it the worst option, even her father's wrath is better than Gabriel seeing her like this. The longer Gabriel looks at the stupid woman in front of him that acts like she can't even string two words together, who looks like her eyes are about to pop out of her head and her brain is about to explode from over exertion. He always knew she wasn't particularly wise, but the depth of her stupidity is really showcased in this moment.

Far from marrying her, the only thing he feels like doing at the moment is beating her to death.

Gabriel frowns at Maggie's unconscious movement which is very similar to his own where she keeps moving her hand to rub her chest over her heart. She does it just as often as he does.

Gabriel abruptly stands up and paces towards Maggie in an aggressive fashion. Maggie cowers slightly as she looks into his pale blue eyes that show no hint of gentleness. No hint of their long history together. He just looks at her like she is dead person. "We will talk about this later. For now, come with me"

He grabs her wrist in a harsh manner, dragging her along behind him, paying no mind to the fact that she is currently without shoes, while a normal werewolf wouldn't care as much. All her life Maggie has been pampered to the point where she cannot handle much pain or even the slightest inconvenience.

Her high heels fall to the ground as she stumbles, trying hard not to fall. Gabriel doesn't even give the slightest glance back as he drags her over the rough gravel. Not even bothering to move off the harsh surface and walk along the soft grass. Large stones dig into Maggie's feet, tearing them apart. The smell of blood fills the air, but still Gabriel doesn't turn back, slamming the door open to the pack hospital. He walks in with a puffed out chest. Not caring that his soon to be luna is not too far off naked. Even her n*****s can be seen through the red lacy brassiere. It is not like she hasn't been seen in less by most of the pack already. He doesn't think that way, he just doesn't care.

There is a special treatment room dedicated solely to the Alpha and Luna couple. Even though they are rarely in need of any medical treatment, Gabriel walks straight into the room. Just requesting a doctor not caring who is getting treated or what type of critical situation could be going on. No booking and no forewarning. Just a straight demand to drop everything else and everyone else and cater solely to him and his needs.

Gabriel pushes Maggie down onto a chair and starts pacing in the room. His aura is almost suffocating and Maggie tries hard to ignore it as she carefully picks stones out of the bottom of her feet and carefully wraps them up away from Gabriel's view. She doesn't heal as fast as an average alpha wolf, even the small stone abrasions and cuts taking over ten minutes to heal, she has never understood it and always makes a point of hiding the fact from Gabriel. He would never be understanding about such a thing, anything less than pure strength is a burden in Gabriel's eyes. There can never be such weaknesses.

A low rumble sounds from Gabriel's chest as his wait exceeds one minute. The door of the room slams open and a flustered looking doctor rushes in, trying to put on his new gown in the process and just hopeful that the nurse can handle the rest of the babies delivery, the mother was barely crowning when he was called away and it had been such a long time he had been worried that they would end up in an emergency cesarean but he just has to cross his fingers, the doctor rushes to the sink to wash his hands before pulling on a new set of gloves and turning to the couple.

Gabriel just glowers at the man, causing the already flustered doctors fear to spike. Gabriel looks close to deranged and anger is rolling off him.

"How dare you make me wait?"

"S...S...So sorry alpha, there was a...."

"Did I ask for excuses?"

The doctor tries to still his shaking hand. He has had very little to do with Gabriel but Lance would sometimes come by to check how things are running and see if they need any new equipment. Lance is pleasant, but this Gabriel, whenever the doctor has seen him before, he looks calm and relaxed. The doctor always assumed that he was like Lance, but obviously not.

The doctor looks at the clock hanging on the wall. He would usually wallow in his fear for a bit longer, but today he has no time. He wants to get back to the baby.

"What can I do for you, Alpha, Luna"

Gabriel spits.

"Don't call her that. Can you see my mark on her shoulder?"

The doctor bows his head.

"My mistake, apologies Alpha"

Maggie just stares at Gabriel, she started the morning on top of the world thinking she was going to end the day as Luna of the stormy pack, but now she feels like she is going to finish the day with nothing.

Fear grips her, she cannot lose Gabriel, if she loses him she will be less than nothing. How many years would it take to replace another Alpha willing to take her? Most Alphas having some crazy complex about fated mates, trying to replace anyone in the same league as Gabriel will also be hard. Would they all be like Connor and expect her to work?

No, she has it too good here, she cannot lose this. Her back-up plan became her goal, but the goal fell through. Now the goal she has been striving for since she was fifteen years of age has become the back-up plan she needs to hang onto it, her life depends on it.
