Under the Veil I Rule
Chapter 103

Finnian added another explanation, perhaps to reassure Liliana or maybe for some other reason.

Hearing his words, Liliana felt her worry fade away.

Finnian was a man with a strong sense of responsibility. Despite his tendency to clash with Kevin and not always follow his instructions over the years, he genuinely cared about him.

That's why he was so concerned about Amara's safety. Everyone knew how much Kevin doted on her.

At that moment, Finnian was still tailing the black car in front of him, his brow furrowing as he realized Amara wasn't heading home but taking a back road instead.

He had been down that road before; it led straight to the recreational area, with little else but barren land around.

Surely, Amara wasn't heading to the wasteland at this hour. Was she going to the recreational area? Finnian's gaze darkened. He pressed the gas pedal, keeping close to Amara's car as it sped away.

When Amara left the Everly household, it was already nearing 10:30 PM. Exhausted from a long day, she was eager to get home and rest. But midway, her phone rang with a call from Elysia.

"Ama, are you busy right now? Can you come here with me, please?"

Elysia's voice trembled with tears, and the background noise was chaotic, like a bar or club. Amara's heart lurched. "What's wrong? Are you crying?"

Elysia was tough as nails, the kind who'd make others cry before shedding a tear herself. For her to be upset, something serious must have happened. Amara was immediately concerned.

"Yeah." Elysia's voice was fragile. "Ama, I'm so miserable, I can't take it anymore."

Without hesitation, Amara said, "Send me your location. I'm on my way."

Soon enough, Amara received Elysia's location—a bar in the recreational area. She punched it into her GPS and drove straight there.

Inside the dimly lit bar, Amara weaved through the dancing crowd and spotted Elysia slumped over a side booth. Elysia was surrounded by a small army of empty bottles, and she was still trying to drink from another.

Amara hurried over, snatching the bottle from her hand, her eyebrows furrowed. "What are you doing drinking so much? Are you trying to kill yourself?"

"Exactly, might as well-being dead would be a relief right now."

Elysia was thoroughly intoxicated, her cheeks flushed, and she looked utterly heartbroken. She sat up, wrapping her arms around Amara's waist, tears streaming down her face.

Seeing her like this made Amara both angry and sympathetic. Just as she was about to lecture Elysia, her friend blurted out, "I went over to Dorian's place tonight with dinner, hoping to eat with him, and guess what I found?

That tramp Jessica was there, wearing a skimpy nightgown with no bra underneath, everything just fricking out there! I mean, seriously."

Elysia let loose a string of curses, venting her fury at both Dorian and Jessica, before collapsing into tears against Amara.

Amara sighed, asking, "With everything that's happened, do you still want to be with him?"

Elysia looked up, bewildered. "I don't know, Ama. I really don't know."

Amara hugged Elysia's shoulders, wanting to suggest breaking things off with Dorian.

But she had said that before, and Elysia clearly wasn't ready to let go. If she was, her decisive personality would have ended things with Doriama hundred times over by now. Amara found herself at a loss for
