Under the Veil I Rule -
Chapter 151
Finnian's thin lips moved slightly. "It's me."
Everything went still inside the room.
"What the heck is that douche doing here?" Keith, lounging in Amara's room, shot up from the couch like a firework as he heard Finnian's voice, heading towards the door as if ready to confront him.
Amara, weary-eyed, held him back. "Please, don't go out there. I'm worried you two will just end up in a fight."
Keith's earlier grumble hadn't been loud enough to reach the door, plus the couch was relatively far away from the door, so Finnian likely hadn't heard him.
Amara kept her voice low as she said, "I won't let him in, and I'm not talking to him. Just sit tight, okay?"
Keith, ever concerned about Amara getting hurt when Finnian was involved, relaxed a bit seeing her resolve. "That jerk showing up here unannounced is like a fox sending a Christmas card to a hen-up to no good," Keith growled as he settled back on the couch, crossing his legs.
Amara shot him a look. "Who's the hen here, huh? Watch your words."
"Come on, it's just an analogy. No need to get all technical."
Their lifelong friendship was full of playful banter, and it seemed nothing could change that, not even at the moment.
Mindful of Finnian possibly still lurking around, Amara subdued her voice. As expected, her phone buzzed. Finnian was calling. She rejected the call and texted back, "I'm not feeling well, so it's not a good time to meet. Please leave."
With no reply, Amara assumed he'd left and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Alright, he should be off the set by now, probably off to see Liliana. You should get going too I need to work on the script."
About five minutes later, feeling assured that Finnian couldn't be at the door, she gave Keith a gentle kick.

"Alright, alright, I'm leaving," Keith replied, giving Amara's cheek a playful pinch for a reciprocal of her previous banter before heading to the door with a smirk, a gesture that was met with a mock glare from Amara.
But Keith's jovial mood vanished as he swung open the door, coming face to face
with Finnian, who stood outside with a dark expression, fixing him with an
unyielding stare.
"What are you still doing here?"
"You've been in my wife's break room all this time?"
Their voices collided mid-air as the tension ratcheted up between the two six-foot- something men.
Hearing the commotion, Amara rushed to the door, surprised to replace Finnian still there. She quickly
stepped between them, her
demeanor cautious as she ainet
"Mr. Everly, is there something you need?"
"You told me you were unwell and wouldn't see anyone. Was that because he was here?" Finnian's gaze shifted steadily to Amara, his words deliberate and heavy. Though his face was a mask of calm there was something intimidating about his presence that would make one frightened.
Amara lower her head, saying, "We were having a private conversation. It wasn't
a good time."
"Really?" Finnian uttered, his lips curled into a mocking smile. "A man and a woman alone in a room, how is it not a good time? And you can't even mention to your husband?"
Amara frowned, puzzled at his insistence on emphasizing "wife" and "husband".
