Under the Veil I Rule -
Chapter 186
Amara was speechless. So, was that what he cared about, the label of being a husband?
Torn, she had a million reasons not to sleep with Finnian. For starters, she was pregnant, and the doctor had advised against intimacy in the first trimester. Then there was the matter of her principles; she wasn't exactly a prude, but she wasn't into casual flings either.
And yet, despite all this, there was an unsettling thought that terrified her: if it were Finnian, she might not say no.
It wasn't just because they'd done it before. It was because it was Finnian. The very idea made her nervous, afraid that the feelings she'd tried so hard to bury would surface again, leading her down a path she feared she couldn't come back from.
Her fingers clutched the sheets, her heart racing with indecision. What was she supposed to do now?
Finnian, meanwhile, had moved closer, his lips brushing against her skin as he started to pull at her clothes with his teeth. The room was dark, the only light coming from the living room, casting a soft glow over them.
He was tense, like a bowstring pulled taut, and as he moved, a drop of sweat fell onto her skin. For over twenty years, Finnian had never imagined intimacy could be so wonderful. He'd always been repulsed by women's body, but touching Amara had changed that. It had left him with a pleasant memory, one that seemed to make everything feel right.
Grasping her chin, he studied her face before leaning in for a kiss. It didn't last long, and when he pulled back, his eyes filled with a certain intensity.
"Did you ever sleep with Keith?" he asked suddenly.
Amara froze, not knowing how to respond. The best answer would be "no", but she wasn't a virgin, and Finnian might replace out soon enough. What was she supposed to reply then?
No, was she already assuming they'd go through with it?
Things had progressed so far, it seemed inevitable, but she really didn't want this. For the first time, she loathed her own indecision.
"Can't answer?"
Finnian's gaze was sharp, almost predatory as it was fixed on her eyes. "Then let me ask you this: has he kissed you?"

Did it?
Finnian asked himself the same question. It shouldn't have mattered, yet somehow he desperately wanted to know the answer.
"Mr. Everly."
She thought they should talk, but he seemed to have dropped the question, leaning in to kiss her again.
Was he really going to do this?
Her heart pounded as she gripped his shoulder, finally replaceing her voice. "Finnian, please, don't."
But he didn't seem to hear her, pinning her hands to the bed. As Amara began to struggle, feeling things spiraling out of control,
Finnian didn't have the intention of disentangling her.
At the moment, a loud bang on the door erupted from outside. "Mr. Everly, open
up!"
Finnian's eyes flickered with annoyance as he lifted his head, shouting back, "Shut up and go away!"
