Will kept knocking on the door, his voice tinged with urgency. "Mr. Finnian Everly, something's happened to Mr. Kevin Everly!

Lisa called me. She said he just got taken away in an ambulance."

The warmth in the room seemed to evaporate instantly.

Finnian's eyes reddened, but he quickly regained his composure. He rolled off Amara and onto his feet.

Amara, initially flustered and worried, snapped back to reality and sat up immediately.

Finnian stepped onto the floor, barefoot, across the bathrobe and Amara's clothes strewn about, heading to the closet for a shirt and slacks, slipping into them with swift precision.

Amara got dressed as well, and as she finished, Finnian fastened the last button on his shirt. They exchanged a glance, silent but understanding, and headed for the door together.

"What happened to Grandpa?" Finnian demanded as he opened the door, his expression grim.

Will kept his eyes to the ground, avoiding their gaze. "It seems his blood pressure shot up really high, and then he passed out. They're trying to stabilize him now."

Finnian brushed past Will, striding purposefully out the door, with Amara quickly following. "Is he at the hospital he usually goes to?"

"Yeah, that's the one."

They drove to the hospital in silence, as if the events that had unfolded moments ago were nothing but a distant memory.

At last, they reached the ICU. Looking over, they saw the main members of the Everly family gathered around. As soon as Finnian arrived, they rushed to him, talking over one another to explain the situation, with Amara listening by his side. Kevin's condition was serious, but not necessarily dire, as long as he could be stabilized. However, the possibility of things going south lingered.

No, Kevin would pull through, Amara thought with conviction.

Her palms were clammy, and her knees felt a bit weak.

Despite the rough patches she'd had with Kevin, including the last meeting where she had to prove her supposed infidelity, she still cared for him deeply and wished for his well-being.

"Amara, how dare you show up here!"

As she prayed silently for Kevin, a voice cut through the air.

Amara looked up to see Celeste striding over, pointing accusatively at her nose.

"You know why Grandpa's blood pressure spiked? It's all because of you!

It's your betrayal of Finnian that caused this! Someone slutty like you should never have been allowed into our family."

Amara's anger flared. Already frazzled by the day's events, she was in no mood for Celeste's accusations.

She was about to retort when Finnian's cold, sharp voice interrupted. "Who taught you to spout those foul words? You're only getting worse as you grow up."

Silence fell over the emergency

room entrance, everyone stunned as they stared at Finnian. Had they heard him right? Finnian, who'd always seemed indifferent to his wife, was standing up for he now, despite her alleged infidelity?

"Shut your mouth!" Andrea approached, pinching Celeste sharply and scolding her quietly.

Andrea then looked up, offering a conciliatory smile. "Celeste's behavior is our fault. We've spoiled her terribly. Please, don't be upset with her."

Andrea was well aware of Finnian's importance within the Everly family, and his anger was no small matter, prompting her to humble herself despite being the elder.

Celeste pouted, muttering under her breath, "Mom, why are you doing this? So

what if I lashed out on her? She should..."

"Shut up!"
