Under the Veil I Rule -
Chapter 189
Was he hearing things right? Finnian was actually asking him to apologize to Amara?
Oh, Finnian must have missed the love bites on Amara's neck and had no idea what kind of reckless things she'd done before all this. That was why he said that.
He quickly pointed out, "Finnian, look at her. Clearly, she was just making out with another guy! A woman like this isn't worthy of being part of the Everly family."
"Shut your mouth!"
Finnian's gaze followed Hogan's pointing finger, landing on the telltale red marks. His expression grew strange, a mix of embarrassment and anger simmering beneath the surface. But Hogan, oblivious to the nuance, stared at Finnian incredulously.
He had just shown Finnian the evidence of Amara's promiscuity, yet Finnian was still siding with her. How could that be?
"Didn't you hear me? Apologize to her."
Finnian's voice was cold and precise, each word like a sharp, unyielding chisel. Hogan clenched his fists, momentarily at a loss for words.
Finnian was a man with a commanding presence. When he instructed someone to do something, they often found themselves compelled to obey, almost by instinct. Hogan was no exception in this moment.
So, even though he loathed the idea of apologizing to Amara, with Finnian giving a direct order, what choice did he have?
He took a deep, furious breath, subduing his rage, and forced out the words. "Amara, I'm sorry."
Amara fixed him with a cold stare.
Just moments ago, Hogan had hurled such unpleasant words at her. How could a simple apology possibly erase that hurt?
Moreover, while she wasn't one to stand on formalities, the fact that Hogan's tone further displayed his disrespect. That only fueled her anger.
She turned her head away, her voice icy as she said, "I don't accept your apology. Please leave."
Hogan was at loss for words, his eyes widened in shock.
He had lowered himself to apologize, and yet this woman had the audacity to reject it? He couldn't suppress his wrath any longer
But with Finnian still standing there, watching him with a decidedly0 unfriendly gaze, Hogan dared not challenge him. Despite his reluctance, he left the rooftop.
BUMS
With just Amara and Finnian left, silence settled over them.
Their eyes met, and the atmosphere grew instantly awkward.
Earlier, they had rushed to the hospital with their minds preoccupied with Kevin's
condition, leaving no room for any other thoughts.
Now that Hogan was gone, the events of an hour ago came flooding back,
heating the air between them with an unmistakable ambiguity.
Amara looked around, searching for a place to sit. She really didn't want to be alone with Finnian right now.
Finnian, too, felt a bit uncomfortable. He considered breaking the silence, but seeing Amara gazing around, who seemingly intended to excuse herself, he instinctively asked, "Where do you want to go?
"Nowhere, really. I'm just a bit tired, looking for somewhere to rest," Amara replied automatically.
As soon as the words left her mouth, silence descended once more.
Amara's claim of being tired was just an excuse, but Finnian's mind wandered elsewhere.
She had been at home all day, and then rode with him to the hospital. She hadn't done anything physically demanding, so why would she be tired?
The only exertion she'd had today was... Could that really be tiring?
Originally, Amara didn't feel anything wrong, but as she watched Finnian's expression, she realized he'd misunderstood her, and she felt wave of embarrassment. She hurriedly added, "That's not what I meant. What I was trying to say is.... never mind, it's nothing."
