Under the Veil I Rule -
Chapter 194
"Mr. Everly has a minor fracture in his arm. It's not too serious, and once healed, it shouldn't affect his normal life or activities. But during this time, he needs to be careful," the doctor explained concisely, reminding the family not to overstay their visit. With that, he exited the room.
Liliana immediately rushed to the bedside, grabbed Finnian's large hand, and placed it over her own belly, much to the visible displeasure of Kevin.
"Finn, the baby and I were so worried about you. Thank goodness you're alright. Or I don't know what we would do."
"What kind of talk is that? He's awake now. There's no need for such gloomy words!" Kevin interrupted sternly.
Liliana fell silent at once, tears welling up and spilling over in silent grievance.
Lisa, who had tagged along, chimed in with a half-smile, "I'm just a housekeeper, probably shouldn't say anything, but I can't help myself.
Ms. Porter, Mr. Finnian Everly got hurt, and instead of caring about his condition, you seem more worried about yourself and the baby. It's natural to concern yourself, but isn't that a bit cold-hearted under the circumstances?"
Liliana became panicked at her accusation. Of course she was worried about Finnian. But seeing Amara and Mr. Kevin Everly chatting so closely outside had stirred her jealousy and feelings of isolation, which was why she rushed to Finnian's side to express her concerns.
"Finn, that's not what I meant. I'm most worried about you! During filming, when I heard about your accident, I fainted right on stage. Mr. Zade and the others had to bring me around. You can ask them if you don't believe me."
Normally composed, Liliana was near tears, genuinely distressed over Finnian's condition.
Finnian, overwhelmed by the bickering, rubbed his temples and said, "I
understand, Liliana. You don't have to explain."
Finnian was a man of few words and never one to lie for comfort. His assurance
meant he truly didn't take Lisa's words to heart.
Relieved, Liliana let a few more tears fall, holding Finnian's arm with deep
affection. "Does it hurt a lot? That drunk driver was awful. People like that should be locked up for longer."
Watching the two of them so
engrossed, seemingly oblivious to the others present, Kevin couldn't hold back any longer. He snapped, "Displaying such affection in public is disgraceful. I've always said we shouldn't associate with people of lesser upbringing-no manners at all!"
Liliana was stunned, internally cursing Mr. Kevin Everly. Why did this old fogy have to be so difficult?
Finnian, meanwhile, hadn't been
paying attention to Liliana who was clinging to his arm or to Kevin's stern expression. From the moment the group entered the room, his eyes had been fixed on Amara.
Amara's face was masked, her expression unreadable, but she seemed composed. Was she really impervious after learning of his accident?
Of course, she only had eyes for Keith. Why would she care about him? With a
dark look, Finnian said, "Grandpa, Liliana, could you please step out?"
Liliana froze. "Finn, what are you doing?"
Why did he ask her and Mr. Kevin Everly to leave but not Amara?
"I need to talk to Amara."
Liliana bit her lip, feeling a surge of frustration. But since Finnian asked, she couldn't refuse. Muttering a few words to remind him to rest and not strain himself, she left the room with Kevin.
