At this moment, Liliana was feeling on top of the world, her spirits high. She uttered, "Didn't you buy anything, Ms. Sullivan? I think there were quite a few pieces of jewelry that would suit you perfectly."

Hearing this, Elysia bristled with anger, and even Amara couldn't help but feel a twinge of irritation.

Liliana had once outright said Amara was "ugly", "grotesque". How could someone she deemed ugly possibly replace jewelry that suited her? Clearly, Liliana was mocking her for not securing any bids.

"Ama did buy something," Elysia interjected, stepping forward. "Isn't everything Finnian bought essentially for her?"

She glanced at Will, who was holding the bags, and her lips curled into a smirk.

"Four items in total, right? Those are marital assets, so Ama should get two of them."

Liliana's face immediately stiffened at Elysia's words. Even though she had been the one to bid on those items, Finnian had been the one to pay for them, so technically, they were Finnian's possessions.

With a slight purse of her lips, she retorted, "Ms. Moon, that's quite rude. Those pieces were my gifts from Finn."

Elysia shrugged, her expression oozing disdain. "I don't really care who Finnian gives them to. As long as he and Ama are still married, technically, everything he buys is joint property. If you're illiterate, maybe you should brush up on the law."

Liliana's face went sour completely at her words. She tugged at Finnian's sleeve, her voice tinged with a hint of complaint. "Finn."

At the sight of this, Elysia's temper flared, while Amara felt a wave of sadness and humiliation. She whispered, "Ely, let's just drop it and leave."

Her marriage to Finnian was essentially a business arrangement-Finnian could spend his money however he wanted, and she had no right to intervene.

"No, I can't let this slide," Elysia murmured in her ear.

"Even though your marriage is under wraps, plenty of people in our circle know about it. Finnian strutting around with his lover before the divorce is final-did you forget the looks you've been getting?

Amara's face paled. She had overheard the whispers, the cruel jabs about her appearance and her situation.

If she hadn't held Elysia back, the latter would have confronted them already.

"And just look at Liliana's smug

face," Elysia pressed on. "If she'd just stepped aside quietly, it would be

one thing. But you caught the

Ama she's walking all over you, and you want to back down?"

Amara clenched her fists, her sadness mingling with resolve. Exactly, she had done nothing wrong, so why should she let Liliana bully her?

Still, she couldn't control how

Finnian spent his money. She turned to Liliana and said, "What I choose to bid on is none of your business. Do you really think we're on such friendly terms? And after what you did, do you think I can just play nice?"

With that, Amara took Elysia by the arm and started to walk past them, her voice icy. "Kindly step aside, my friend and I are leaving."

Liliana bit her lip hard; even though she hadn't technically lost anything, her frustration boiled over, prompting her not to make way immediately.

At that moment, Finnian spoke up in a low voice, "Are you upset?"

He directed the question at Amara, his eyes searching hers for any hint of emotion, though his gaze couldn't help but wander downward.
