When Amara spoke up, everyone turned to her, their faces a mix of surprise and disbelief. It was like they couldn't believe their ears.

Kevin and Finnian glanced over at her, as did Liliana and Hogan. Each person's expression was touched with a hint of astonishment.

Amara, seemingly unfazed, continued, "Kevin, Ms. Porter is a friend Hogan invited. Today is Peter's birthday party. Let's make sure he has a great time.

Peter's getting on in years, and we don't want to ruin his birthday. Besides, Ms. Porter and Hogan have been friends for a while now. Let's just consider her an extra guest and let her stay for dinner."

Amara's voice was gentle and soothing, like a warm spring breeze, calming Kevin's earlier irritation.

Once he had calmed down, he reflected on Amara's words and felt a pang of tenderness for her sensitive nature.

He took Amara's hand and sighed, "Ama, why are you always this wonderful?"

Amara smiled and said softly, "We all want you to be happy. We want Peter and Bess and everyone to be happy too. Let's all sit down and enjoy dinner, okay?"

It was clear Amara was trying to placate Kevin and bring a quick end to the tension.

Amara hadn't said much, but in this tension-filled room, her words carried weight. Even if brief, her opinion was crucial.

However, Hogan had boldly brought Liliana into the house and called her "sister- in-law", which was like a slap in Amara's face.

It would have been understandable

if Amara had thrown a fit, but instead, she accepted Liliana with grace. It took a lot of strength to do that, and everyone was impressed by her composure. Ebookex

Amara noticed their gazes but wasn't sure what they were thinking. For her, since she and Finnian were getting divorced, there was no point in making a fuss. She chose to let it go.

Kevin didn't explicitly voice his approval, but when Amara gently guided him back to his seat, he didn't resist. Seeing him settle down in his chair reassured everyone that the situation was under control.

Amara glanced at Liliana and said calmly, "Ms. Porter, please replace a seat."

Liliana was Hogan's guest, and Amara was just being polite. Where Liliana chose to sit was not Amara's concern, so she returned to her own seat.

With that, the storm seemed to pass. Finnian went back to his spot, while Hogan and Liliana took seats at the far end of the table.

This arrangement meant Finnian and Liliana were far apart, making it impossible for Finnian to look after her.

Nonetheless, Hogan ensured Liliana wasn't left out, attending to her with such attentiveness that even Peter and Bess exchanged disapproving glances.

Amara ate quietly, occasionally exchanging words with Kevin. Otherwise, she remained silent. She noticed Finnian glancing at her a couple of times, which was odd.

Finnian hadn't spoken a word to her today, yet he had looked at her many times. Amara didn't know what was on his mind, but she was gradually moving on from Finnian. She tried her best not to let his actions affect her mood.
