Wing Of Change -
Chapter 60
Aria arrived very late at work that very day but was lucky not to have received any query. Her boss was still in a happy mood which was why he didn’t pay mind to her rushing through the hall way like a deer before she quickly dashed into her office and locked herself in with a sigh.
She settled down in her winged chair before reaching for her bag to grab her cellphone. She had sent Frank a message on her way to work and was hoping for maybe a reply but was disappointed when she checked her message box and including her WhatsApp and saw nothing.
Frank must have read it through his notification without opening it. He was still furious at her and she can very much understand why as she sat there with a solemn expression and biting down at her bottom l*p in anxiety.
Aria realized just how careless and stupid she has been but being a cheat is definitely not one of those things and she ought to prove it to him.
She sat with her face buried in both hands as she prayed with all her heart for Henry to get through to Frank and also for everything to just get back to normal again.
She was really praying.

Meanwhile….
Frank was back in his office throwing the worst possible fit he could summon. His staffs were at the receiving end as no one in particular was spared the moment he drove into the parking lot and walked right into the ground floor that morning and muting just about everyone present with his hard glare.
Everyone could tell the lion was awake as he strode into the reception and stopping only for a minute to scan through the attendance registry at the counter and causing a silent panic as they all hurried off to their various working desk before busying themselves with whatever duties they ought to be doing at that particular time.
Satisfied with the reaction he got, he proceeded towards his office without sparing anyone a second glance before slamming the door a little too loudly sending a wave of relief to everyone.
The lion is finally in his den. They all thought with a sigh.
Frank could feel his b***d boiling as his pulse quicken in anger before he slammed his briefcase against the glass table and took a deep breath to calm his rapid heart beat before turning to face the window which overseas the busy city below.
He had both his hands buried deep into his trouser pants even though they were balled into a tight fist as a visible outline was seen through the fabric of his trouser.
His jaw muscle tighten a few times when he remembered the feel of her hand against his cheek. The instant pain that rushed at him was nothing compared to how he felt when he walked up to her door step only to replace that guy smiling from ear to ear at a reciprocating Aria who had a smile of her own.
Hell!
That was the last scene he was expecting to see that morning after driving in the speed of light to come see her before making it to work that morning.
Kelvin had an accident on his way home the previous day and he had to go see him instead as it was an emergency call. He even called her severally on his way there and throughout the night to inform her about what happened but got no reply only to drive down there and replace her smiling with another man.
Frank wanted so badly to just punch that ugly smile off his face for standing so damn close to her only to realized that he might have to worry about more than just their standing position as it seemed to him that_the guy might have woken up from her bed given just how crumpled up his clothes were looking so darn early in the morning.
He felt the pain and shock rushed at him like a flash of thought and in that moment he wanted nothing more than to put to shame everything he could be feeling at that point even though the look of guilt in both their eyes was leaving no room for doubt.
Aria can’t be stupid enough to let him spend the night in her house right?. She wouldn’t do that to him not after everything they have shared.
Frank was just so close to screaming those very words at her for being so stupid and clueless when they were left alone in her living room but had to hold back. She was still the woman he loves after all and he wasn’t going to condemn her without letting her defend herself and above all put the little voices in his head to shame.
“Can you explain to me what that guy was doing at your apartment so damn early in morning? And please for the love of God_ do not lie to me. I want the absolute truth”
Frank heard himself asking her instead while staring at her straight in the face. His face was devoid of all expression as the only emotion he was feeling at that point is pain and absolute anger.
He could feel the intensity of his anger by the constant twitching of little finger the very moment he pulled them out of his pocket.
He watched in anger as she squared her shoulder a bit, followed by a deep breathe before looking up at him.
The same eyes that would stare at him with so much love and admiration was barely looking at him without darting away in panic.
“Henry had to stay here last night because i had a crisis even though I can’t remember half of it.” she explained calmly taking a deep breath to calm her racing heart.
“You trust him that much that you rather let him stay the night with you rather than calling me?” His voice a cry of annoyance as he stared at her in disbelief.
“I don’t know what happened because I wasn’t in my right senses to call or speak to anyone. You have to believe me dear”
“You know how much I dislike that guy being around you_the fact that he even slept here last night is enough reason for me not to believe you” he snapped which only startled her in return.
“You have to believe me! Even though he did spend the night here_ nothing happened” she half yelled and pleaded.
Frank almost believed her desperate plea but the very thought of that guy touching her while she claimed not to have remembered is enough not to give in.
“How can you be so sure when you don’t even remember what happened?” Frank looked like he has just being punch in the gut.
He noticed the cry of disbelief registered in her eyes at his statement but he could care less.
“Apart from the fact that he slept over there in the cushion? I know my body enough to know when something is wrong with it even if I don’t remember what happened”
Frank only took a step closer as he stood towering over her.
“What exactly happened that you don’t remember. Where you drunk?”
His gaze rampage over her petite figure in search of anything that proves that he could be right before settling on her lips.
Her lips looked awfully dry even though she keep wetting it with her tongue. She was obviously nervous._he noted dryly.
“I had only a glass of wine and I don’t think it was alcoholic either but after that I went crazy and that’s all I remembered” she answered truthful with hint of regret in her voice
So many thought running through his mind as he stood staring at her without giving away any.
“Why did you keep letting that guy into this place time after time with the lame excuse of being a bloody good neighbor? you even let him spend the night here. How do you expect me to believe nothing happened when you obviously don’t remember a thing”
“Yes I don’t remember a thing but am sure nothing happened”
The thought of their first night together flashed in his mind as he remembered how everything went down between them without her realizing until the next day.
“How can you be so sure hmm? You slept with me without even knowing it was me. How do you know you haven’t done same with that gu_”
Frank saw the flash of anger in her eyes and knew he had said too much before he felt her hand sweep across his cheek in a warm slap.
“I won’t let you insult me because of what happened between us that night. I have said it before and I will say it again. Nothing happened between us. Absolutely nothing” she stated firmly with a new kind of confidence.
Frank could see the disbelief and regret in her eyes as tears began to swell in them. He didnt mean to say those words out loud but nonetheless he did and he cant take it back, just like she can’t take back her mindless action against him.
How did things escalate so fast?
Frank couldn’t help but laugh instead as low chuckles began to erupt from his chest.
“You know what? I came here because i was worried sick about you after failing to check on you as planned and just wanted to be sure you were okay and now, am more than sure you are fine so do have a nice day”
He couldnt leave without telling her why he came in the first place before turning towards the door and halted only at her voice.
“Wait!_” walking towards him
“I’m sorry for raising my hand at you, I never should have let my anger cloud my sense of reasoning but you have to believe me. Nothing happened between us” she pleaded yet again with the same confidence as earlier.
His lips parted but no word made it out as he only stared at her like a total stranger. Frank has always loved her innocence and naivety. Now he hates every bit of it. To think that she could let herself be manipulated so easily without even realizing it is sickening enough but instead of saying it out loud. He just turned around and walked out the door leaving her behind to think about everything and decide what the heck she truly want!.
