Under the Veil I Rule
Chapter 207

The gentle rapping at the door filled the room. Amara felt a twinge of unease, and when she opened the door, her suspicion was confirmed it was Liliana.

"Ms. Sullivan, I'm here to see Finn. I'll come in."

Liliana was dressed in a sleek black satin dress, her signature red lipstick and wavy hair unchanged. A string of pearls adorned her neck, adding a touch of elegance to her already striking presence.

She clicked her way in on modest heels, lightly touching Finnian's bandaged right arm. Her voice carried a hint of tenderness. "Does it still hurt? Have you changed the dressing today?"

Finnian looked up at her, his gaze somewhat icy. Sensing his abnormality, Liliana asked, "Finn, what's wrong? Did something happen?"

"Leave us for a moment."

Finnian turned his head slightly. The comment was directed at Amara, who stood behind Liliana.

Amara lowered her eyes. Finnian's real girlfriend was visiting, and as his pretend wife, she knew her place was to step aside. Without protest, she quietly left the

room.

It was evening, and not planning to go far, Amara wandered the corridor, observing the various patients and their families. It was an interesting diversion. Soon, the door to Finnian's room swung open and Liliana emerged. Her eyes seemed a touch red-had she been crying?

As Amara watched, Liliana spotted her and quickly approached. "Ms. Sullivan, I have something to ask you. Could you come with me for a moment?"

Amara thought for a moment before nodding. Liliana led her to the stairwell and asked, "You and Keith aren't a couple?"

"No, we've always just been friends."

Liliana bit her lip, glaring at Amara with a hint of resentment.

Amara felt Liliana was misplacing her anger. With her plain looks, she posed no threat to Liliana, and she had never clung to Finnian, even signing that statement willingly. It was Finnian who held onto her all along, not the other way around. Liliana should be mad at him, not her.

"Ms. Porter, if there's nothing else, I'll be going," Amara spoke calmly, turning to leave without looking back.

Liliana didn't stop her, lingering in the stairwell for a moment before heading down and exiting the hospital Outside, a car awaited Liliana opened the back door and slidin, joining Ethan and Jenny in the front.

"Why are you out so soon?" Jenny asked. "Is Amara still in the room?"

"She is," Liliana replied coolly.

Jenny, used to her demeanor,

continued, "That shameless wretch, clinging to Finn when they're nearly divorced. It's lucky she had an affair,

otherwise with Mr. Kevin Everly defending her, who knows what she'd do with the Everly family's influence."

"She didn't have any affair!"

Liliana, who had been aloof since getting in, suddenly exploded at Jenny's remarks, shouting back.

Silence fell over the car as Jenny and Ethan turned to her in shock.

"She didn't?" Jenny exclaimed. "Then what happened? Wasn't she with that actor?"

"It was all fake! They're just friends, not in that kind of relationship!"

Liliana's composure shattered, her voice rising in a near-hysterical pitch. Jenny was taken aback, needing a couple of seconds to regain her composure.
